2015 Made in the Adirondacks Fair

July 18, 2015

Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Included in general museum admission

Produced in association with the Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA) and Traditional Arts of Upstate New York (TAUNY), this debut event features artisans blanketing the museum campus with traditional and contemporary Adirondack arts, crafts, foodstuffs, performances, demonstrations, workshops, and more.

You'll find products that are inspired by the majesty of the Adirondack wilderness and the people who produce them using techniques handed down through the generations.

Join us for a day of "local," including performances of traditional songs and stories that have also been made in the Adirondacks. Included with general museum admission.

10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Talk with North Country artisans practicing traditional and contemporary Adirondack-inspired arts and crafts (listed below).

10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Explore museum exhibitions and programs throughout the 32-acre campus that show how people have lived and worked in the Adirondack Wilderness.

10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Invisible Factory Feedback Tent - What do you think of local products? Stop by TAUNY's tent to review select goods made in the North Country. Complete a simple questionnaire to provide valuable information to regional artisans.

The Invisible Factory is a multi-year assessment to assist artisans involved in the often "unseen" work of micro-enterprises in the Adirondack North Country region. Through this project, nonprofit partners Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA) and Traditional Arts in Upstate NY (TAUNY) are surveying artisans, identifying obstacles small makers face in growing their operations, and developing initiatives that will equip artisan businesses to reach larger markets and expand their production capacity.
